And thank you Pete Reddy for your design talents. We’re delighted to
welcome our GAZING Collage pal to the cover of our 2020 programme.

This is my third and final festival as Chairperson. In this time we have
said farewell to an awesome cohort of Directors (you know who you
are, you legends) and welcomed an excellent new crew to the fold. So
please join me in heartfelt and warmest thanks to those who volunteer
their time to GAZE every month of the year. I am proud to have been
part of a cultural community spanning 28 years of audiences, film-
makers, storytellers, directors, volunteers, programmers, producers,
       sponsors and contributors.

The culture of GAZE is based on our four strategic pillars: to create a
shared collective experience, advocacy, be a platform for new content,
and to provide access to LGBTQ+ film. Queer culture, in all it’s glorious
nuances and subversive contexts, is something GAZE tries to curate
through film. We hope that you find something in our programme
       which reflects you!

On an Irish beach this summer, as I emerged bedraggled with my
surfboard from the Atlantic ocean, The Cupcake Blokes, our long
standing friends and supporters, were strolling by. Having a socially
distant, face to face moment lifted my heart no end. Thank you! Our
continued support from our lead sponsor, Accenture, has enabled
us to confidently embrace the financial uncertainties of delivering a
2020 festival. Warmest thanks to Pamela Barry, Niamh Ryan, and all
the Accenture team. The Arts Council, Dublin City Council, The British
Council, the Goethe Institut Irland, The French Embassy in Ireland,
Screen Skills Ireland and our many Festival Friends, thank you for
believing in us. We truly couldn’t do this without you. The Light House
Cinema and IFI, our two venues, have been hugely responsive as we
all face the unknown together. Thank you for working with us to make
       something beautiful happen.

I hope you’ll join us from your sofa, your pal’s kitchen table, or
(dare we hope) in person at the end of September.

       Sarah Williams,
